Overview

Communities, organisations, and individuals are increasingly having to navigate the impacts of environmental change and the difficult decisions that come with adapting to such changes. Cutting across debates around land use change, energy infrastructures, nature recovery, and other place-based interventions are themes of trust, inequality, inclusion, (mis)information and the role of knowledge. Debates are becoming more visible, more complex, and more contested.

But rather than seeing this as a barrier, this Community of Practice asks whether controversy can be a force for good. How could constructive disagreement become a catalyst for better governance, more meaningful participation and a more sustainable future?

Purpose

The CoP acts a learning network and an action network, providing a space for peer-support, the exchange of information, and a chance to explore and practice approaches to disagreement with others.

We don’t aim to ‘solve’ disagreement, but we aim to showcase different approaches to working in spaces and topics where disagreement is inevitable.

Membership

The CoP is open to anyone interested in sharing and developing their work and its relationship to disagreement in the climate space. We encourage a wide variety of perspectives, but acknowledge that the time zone and language (English) will be a barrier to some.
