Exploring and advancing the role of civic universities in supporting climate action in cities and regions.
The Cities & Regions Working Group of the UK Universities Climate Network (UUCN) is convening a Community of Practice (CoP) for university staff and academics working on local climate action and engagement. The CoP is meeting online every two months, for an initial period of a year. It provides peer-support, knowledge exchange and the potential for collaborative actions.
The CoP focuses on three levels of city and regional climate action:
- Analysis of specific frameworks, toolkits and good practice – what’s already out there?
- Insight into effective engagement practices and learning – what’s been working well?
- Exploration of the wider systemic barriers to effective collaboration – what else needs to shift?
The CoP works closely with existing models and networks, including Living Labs, Climate Commissions, and the Civic University Network, as well as other relevant working groups of the UUCN.
All academics and professional staff are welcome to join and actively participate in the CoP, and we encourage you to share this invitation within your institutions and networks with colleagues who are leading on relevant work.
The Community of Practice is facilitated by Vicki O’Kelly (the University of Liverpool) and Peter Lefort (the University of Exeter), co-leads of the UUCN’s Cities & Regions Working Group.
