How can we disagree better over sustainable futures? Community of Practice launch

15 July @ 1:00 PM3:00 PM

Following the hybrid event in April, How can we disagree better over sustainable futures?, we are launching an online Community of Practice to continue the conversation and hold a regular, free, and open space for all to share ideas, challenges, practical actions, and collaborative opportunities to deepen our shared understanding of ‘what does disagreeing better actually look like?’

In this introductory session we will share our purpose for the Community of Practice, as a space to recognise and value different types of knowledge – e.g. academic, community, lived experience, embodied – while acknowledging the tensions between them. We will also share and run through practical examples of the three-tier structure of what the CoP will cover:

    1. Sharing good practice – tools, research, case studies, techniques
    2. Applying a critical assessment of what else is needed – e.g. learning how to hold discomfort, grounding research in what communities need
    3. Holding space for the systemic barriers – what is and what is not within our control/influence

Everyone is welcome, and please email Peter at gfn@exeter.ac.uk to sign up. There is no formal membership or commitment, but there will be invitations for members to share their contexts, experiences, and ideas at future sessions.

If you can’t join in July but would like to be included in the CoP list going forward, please fill out this very short survey to give your consent for me to keep your contact details on file.
