Adaptation Community of Practice
The Adaptation Community of Practice is open to all organisations across the UK that are working to develop their understanding of and engagement with adaptation. We hear from expert speakers, test and feedback on new ideas and resources, and collectively discuss how to implement the latest information into how we work individually and together.
The CoP acts a learning network and an action network, providing a space for peer-support, the exchange of information, and increased co-ordination around a consistent approach to understanding, communicating and implementing climate adaptation measures.
December’s speaker will be Emma River-Roberts, Founder and Director of the Working Class Climate Alliance. The WCCA trains and advises organisations on social class and climate change. They work with academics, campaigners, and civil society groups across the world to put class at the centre of their climate work.
In this session we will hear more about the WCCA and its approach, and in the final half hour we will try out one of the tools in the Climate in Common communications toolkit for working-class engagement. Written for organisers, campaigners and communicators, the toolkit gives advice and step-by-step instructions on how to communicate climate change and environmentalism in ways that resonate with working class communities.
