NetZeroPlus – Forest planting decision support tool
NetZeroPlus is a current project looking at how tree-planting can remove harmful greenhouse gas emissions from the atmosphere and delivering other benefits.
As a woodland creation and management project it explores the greenhouse gas removal consequences of different tree-planting options and is aimed at identifying the right trees and right places to plant.
At the heart of the project is an ambition to provide an innovative Woodland and Forest Decision Support Tool.
Working with a range of stakeholders to inform over 74,000 hectares of self-funded planting the project will:
- Measure greenhouse gas stored in trees and soil at new Demonstrator sites
- Develop decision support tools for tree planting
- Demonstrate how tree planting at a massive scale can deliver NetZero
