Adaptation Community of Practice
The Adaptation Community of Practice is open to all organisations across the UK that are working to develop their understanding of and engagement with adaptation. We hear from expert speakers, test and feedback on new ideas and resources, and collectively discuss how to implement the latest information into how we work individually and together.
The CoP acts a learning network and an action network, providing a space for peer-support, the exchange of information, and increased co-ordination around a consistent approach to understanding, communicating and implementing climate adaptation measures.
January’s session will feature Peter Irvine and Mark Turner, co-founders of SRM360.org, a non-profit knowledge broker dedicated to informing people about solar geoengineering so they can contribute to critical decisions about its research, development, and governance.
SRM360 works with experts around the world to create content that helps people get informed and take part in society-wide discussions – in time to make a difference.
Pete and Mark will provide an overview of solar geoengineering and answer our questions about it. They will share their insights on the current state of the science and governance, and highlight the key uncertainties and challenges around this idea.
This session will be an opportunity to critically delve into a strand of adaptation which is important to acknowledge and respond to.
Sessions last for 90 minutes, with an extra 30 minutes held for open discussion for anyone who wants to stay.
